Janet,I always install 3rd party plugins in their default directories as determined by the program's installer. That seems to get the best results. There's no reason to copy it to bb.Below is how I go about adding a VSTi plugin into BIAB.1. Select 'Plugins Plugins dialog' (upper image).2. Select a track that has MIDI on it. I've used the Piano track (lower image).(MIDI tracks are identified by yellow writing.
If the writing is green, it's a Realtrack. Synth options are not available for Realtracks, only effect options are.)3. Select the 'Add VSTi option, navigate to where Aria/Garritan is located and select it.(The path you give in your post for your location of Garritan is identical to mine.)All the best,NoelAttachmentsDescription: VSTi Dialog WindowDescription: Adding the VSTi into BIABEdited by Noel96 ( 01/05/18 01:33 PM). Janet,A couple of thoughts that might or might not help.1. If what you've tried to load is a DXi version of the plugin, it cannot be loaded via the 'Add VSTi plugin' method above.2. If you've tried to load a 64-bit version of the plugin that will not be able to added unless you have jbridge installed because BIAB is a 32-bit application. Even though the 'program files(x86)' should contain only 32-bit plugins, there've been instances on these forums where 64-bit plugins have also been added to directories therein. The 32-bit plugin will have x86 in its name.3. Did you try both the x86 and the x86(multi) plugins? It might be that one of these works with BIAB and the other does not (as you can see from my images, I have the x86 one loaded).I don't know if this will help but the below link will take you to the latest version of Aria Player (it's free).Regards,Noel.

Janet,Firstly, and I've corrected my first post to include this, the path of your Garritan folder is identical to mine.Secondly, as I'm sitting here thinking about it, a while back, I had an issue with a plugin that wouldn't load and, while I'm not absolutely sure, I think it was Aria Player (if my brain is remembering correctly, I tried to use Garritan Jazz and Big Band which I bought a few years ago from PG Music). My immediate response was to feel annoyed/confused because I like JABB.Anyway, I installed the latest update for the player and it worked again. I wonder if this might be worth a try?Regards,Noel. I will certainly give that a try.
Otherwise, perhaps the best solution is to use the stand-alone Aria player for midi files and save audio file from it.JanetJanet,I use Reaper 64-bit as my DAW and I'd definitely be more likely to transfer a midi file from BIAB or RB and use Garritan in Reaper. Ultimately, I mix all my songs in a DAW so working with midi at that point in time suits me well.I personally find that the DAW enviroment offers much more versatility than the BIAB environment and Reaper is incredibly powerful software.Regards,Noel. Aria definitely works here.
And it is not a DXi plugin; strictly a VSTi plugin. When you install Aria, it will ask you where you want your plugins installed and it will install both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the plugin. The plugin names are:. ARIA Player VSTx64.
ARIA Player Multi VSTx64. ARIA Player VSTx86. ARIA Player Multi VSTx86In BIAB you don't want to load the Multi; that's to support multiple audio outputs, but BIAB only has one stereo output. If you have a sound card with multiple outputs with your DAW, then you may want to use the Multi version to send the output to different paths for further processing.Only use the x64 version if you have jbridge installed; however, I don't believe that the Garritan libraries are so huge that you'll have problems using the 32-bit version with BIAB.One thing to be careful of (and this doesn't apply to Aria).the name of the VSTi as shown in BIAB is exactly the same whether it's the 32-bit or 64-bit plugin. Kontakt is a good example of this. For that reason, if you have the 32-bit version loaded in your list of available plugins, in order to use the 64-bit version, you have to remove the 32-bit version, then load the 64-bit version (because both are called 'Kontakt'.In the case of the Aria plugin, howoever, the 32-bit is shown as x86 and the 64-bit is shown as x64; so both can be in your list at the same time (again, make sure you have jbridge for the 64-bit version). If it's still not loading, then it makes me think it could be one of the DX/VST flag files that is causing a problem.
I can't remember the exact procedure for that, but I know Kent from PGMusic has helped some folks fix this type of issue. Every version release of Band-in-a-Box® adds loads of new features and enhancements to the program, which we're sure can sometimes get 'lost' in your knowledge of the program's capabilities.Looking to learn about new features with a specific release? It's actually really easy to locate this information!Learn tips on the new version (2019) by visiting Help Tip of the Day and placing a check mark next to 'Only Show Tips for Version 2019' (you'll also need to select 'Show Tips at Startup', if it's not already).Access the new features list for older versions in the Help Index of the program - from the left-menu, choose Contents Features and a list of New Features will show - all the way back to Version 7!#FeatureFriday.
Did you know that Band-in-a-Box® will show you some helpful 'Tips' when you start the program? What a great way for new program users to learn all the features of the program! Want to know Tips on just the latest version? This feature can be adjusted to just show the Tips for that too.Maybe you're a long-time user of the program, and have this feature turned off? To access Tip of the Day (450+ available!), head to Help Tip of the Day.
Your Tip will appear right away - and you'll have the option of reading the Next Tip if you wanted too! Within this window is where you would also choose to 'Show Tips at Startup' (if this is unchecked, you won't see them), or 'Only Show Tips for Version 2019'.Here's a few Tips the program informed me of the last time I opened Band-in-a-Box®:In the Piano Roll window, the 'Ghost Note' function allows you to view a single-channel, and see notes on all other channels display in light grey. This is useful when working with multi-channel tracks.Want a bigger guitar display? Drag the bottom end of the Guitar Window to change its size, or press the SETTINGS button to set a custom size. The Printout can use left and right MARGINS. This is useful to make printouts for small paper size or 3 hole paper that requires margins.Edit Nudge Chords/Melody. Let's say that you have entered a complete song chord progression, and you then realize that all of the chords starting at bar 23 are 1 beat to late. You can use this feature to slide your chords over by 1 beat.#TipTuesday.
